European project CLIMATEFIT
CLIMATEFIT is a 40-month project aimed at tackling climate-related challenges. The project is funded by the Horizon Europe Programme. Its primary objective is to support EU territories in their quest for climate adaptation by bridging the finance gap, providing critical insights, and building the capacities of Public Authorities (PA) to identify, orchestrate and attract various public and private financing sources and Financing & Investment Entities (FIEs) to identify and access resilient investment opportunities.
The consortium, composed of 32 organisations led by World Climate Foundation (WCF), will develop tailored plans for climate adaptation investments, investment strategies, and case studies. The consortium’s approach involves collaborating with Public Authorities from Northwestern, Eastern, and Southern European regions and investors to co-create 20 innovative investment strategies, 10 concrete and scalable investment plans, and 4 bankable transformational investment cases.
ItaSIF is involved in various key activities of the project, including the maturity assessment, training and capacity building of financial and investment entities, the creation of a common methodology to transform adaptation strategies into investment strategies, and in the analysis of the regulations and policy framework.
The project started on September 1, 2023 and the official kick-off meeting took place on October 11-12 in Copenhagen.
